Violin, Viola, Cello, and Double Bass Method

I combine the fine literature of the Suzuki method, along with many of its teaching principles, with the traditional approach of other beginning methods such as Essential Elements for Strings. For the developing string player, Galamian Scale Studies, standard etudes, solo and chamber literature are the main emphasis. The American String Teachers Syllabus is a invaluable resource that I reference to determine a student’s grade level and to recommend literature. The individual needs of each child are important to me as I plan his or her curriculum. I strive for a healthy balance between the necessary emphasis on developmental literature and the preparation for valuable performing opportunities such as All-State and Region Orchestras, orchestra seat auditions, or church music programs.
