General Policies
Absences – We will make up prepaid lessons that are missed due to illness, family medical emergency or death in the family. Absences from prepaid lessons for convenience, lack of preparation or other similar reasons will not be made up. Please notify us about lesson cancellations as far in advance as possible. Missed make-up lessons will not normally be made up.
Snow Days – Pinner Studios will be open for lessons on snow days unless it is unsafe to travel. If area schools close the Studios will remain open. If weather creates dangerous driving conditions we will send an email to everyone canceling lessons. Lessons missed for snow days will generally not be made up.
Lesson Times – With lessons scheduled back-to-back each student should unpack in the waiting areas, tune (if comfortable tuning!) and be ready with instrument in hand before his or her lesson time in order to receive the full amount of time. Lessons that start late produce a domino effect on the rest of the day so we have to end lessons on time even if we start late!
Chaperons – Pinner Studios welcomes families! For everyone’s comfort and peace of mind, young ladies and children studying with our male teachers should have a responsible sibling or parent/guardian on site either sitting in on the lesson or relaxing in the waiting areas.
Payment – Payment is expected at the first lesson of the month for the entire month. Checks should be made out to Pinner Studios and left with each teacher. Receipts will be issued at the next lesson following payment.
Tuition – During the school year lesson charges are figured on a tuition basis so that the amount owed is the same each month. If families know of a lesson conflict we will reschedule if possible or cancel and deduct the lesson fee from that month’s tuition if notice is given before the first lesson of the month. For summer lessons the charges are based on the number of lessons each month to allow flexibility to schedule vacations and other family activities.

Each family is given our business card which includes the teacher's cell phone number. Calling these cell phone numbers is the quickest way to contact us. These are the only phones at the studio. If you have an “emergency” and need us to pick up immediately, let the phone ring through one cycle and then dial again immediately. We will answer the phone even if a lesson is in progress. For non-emergencies you may call any time and leave a voice message. We will not answer the phone during a lesson unless you ring back a second time.
String Lesson Tuition for Spring, 2012
The monthly tuition is based on the number of lessons per semester multiplied by the per lesson tuition divided by 5 months (January-May). See policy page regarding missed lessons.
Payment is due at the first lesson of each month. CHECKS SHOULD BE MADE OUT TO PINNER STUDIOS, and given to your teacher. Please double check that you are paying the correct tuition as listed below.
If for some reason your family runs into financial difficulty and is unable to pay in a timely manner please let me know. We would rather work with families and help them continue lessons than have a student lose the opportunity to develop his talent. Please do not drop lessons without letting us help!
